The day after La Tourette we stood in Marseille, in Le Corbusier’s Unité d’habitation. Where the monastery is silence, this is a village: 337 homes, streets inside the building, a nursery school on the roof. And a restaurant halfway up, where we ate looking out over the Mediterranean.

A night at La Tourette
On 13 March we travelled with the team to Sainte-Marie de La Tourette, the monastery Le Corbusier built near Lyon. We had been there in 2024 and went back — which probably says enough. We ate at the table with the Dominicans and slept in the cells. What we brought home is not a photo album but a measuring stick.
